We have used Kaspersky Internet security for two years now and find it suited our small business. We would recommend it.

Does what it says on the tin. Much better than 2008, easy to install and understand. Runs in background and reminds you to check protection of your computer if you haven’t logged on for a few days. Would definitely recommend and will be buying the 2010 version when needed.

I recieved Kaspersy 2010 instead of 2009 by mistake, but the suppler were very good and explained that 2009 was discontinued and they would refund the diffrence. I love this virus software and would recommend it. Its easy to use and is a very good Anti virus and security software.

I recently got a new PC and decided to have a change from Norton. I’d found Norton 2009 to be good but I’d also heard good things about Kaspersky, and it was cheaper. What a terrible mistake.

Installation failed half way through. On contacting support with the error message they said it was common for this to happen. They sent me a file via email that I had to reference during the install process. I should have taken the hint and thrown the s/w away but stupidly I carried on.

Since installation a couple of months ago, here are some of the issues I’ve had (the ones I can remember, there have been many many more!)

    * It will deny access to programs apparently at random. It denied the EXEs associated with my graphic tablet, the disk defrag tool, two popular graphics packages (one it said was a keylogger!!!), Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat reader and many more. Each time I have to go in and add an exception to stop it generating thousands of log entries every minute. In one ironically random act of petulance it actually started denying access to its own executable! It marked itself as a threat and denied its own functionality! Thinking about it now, though, that’s probably one of the few correct assessments it ever made…

    * The scheduled scans simply do not run. Today I’m looking at the screen that tells me my full scan is scheduled for every 21 days, and it last ran on 3rd Aug. That’s 26 days ago. I will have to run it manually of course but I suspect this is pointless because it identifies standard, uninfected components as high risk. Flash is “very dangerous”, as is Dreamweaver and several others. And that’s all it says. There’s no help in terms of what you might want to do to mitigate the threat (if such a threat exists, and I doubt it). So I guess Kaspersky expects me to just delete them so I can’t browse the web or develop any web pages. Great.

    * Sometimes it fails to start, stating the “databases are corrupt”. At other times it randomly disputes the validity of the license key, despite it clearly being valid. It will then just sit there and display a meaningless message about terminating connections.

Aside from all the failures and bugs the interface is very unintuitive compared with Norton, and not nearly as comprehensive. It also lacks the useful features of Norton, for example conducting a scan only when the machine is idle and pausing when you use the computer, so there are no slow-downs or conflicts.

When I get time I will be erasing all trace of this ridiculous software from my PC and replacing it with Norton which, apart from niggling renewal problems, always served me well.
